Les Formalités pour un mariage à Santa Barbara
Marriage licenses can be obtained anywhere in California, can be used immediately and are valid for 90 days.

- Fees: $77.00 for Marriage License - $79.00 for Confidential Marriage License.
You both must be present. Under 18 require the parent's consent. Have ready your mother's maiden name, and your parents place of birth. (State or Country), a certified copy of the divorce (if appllicable).
Il faut que vous soyez présents tous les deux. Préparez le nom de jeune fille de votre mère et le lieu de naisance de vos deux parents ainsi qu'une preuve de divorce (traduite) si c'est nécessaire.
Nous vous aiderons à trouver un officiant qui. (peut-être) parle français, pour conduire la cérémonie.
- No blood test necessary - Pas de prise de sang obligatoire.
- The license becomes public record - Le certificat est rendu publique.
- 1 or 2 witnesees required - Il vous faut 1 ou 2 témoins (que vous pouvez trouver sur place).
- County Clerk will issue a ceremonial license, valid 90 days. Votre certificat sera valable 90 jours
- You must obtain a certified copy after the wedding ($13.00).

For the Confidential Marriage Certificate, these are the additional conditions:
- Both parties must have proof that they actually live together-
The license is kept confidential by the county clerk.
- No blood test necessary.

If you cannot be at the Courthouse within the listed opening hours or if you prefer complete confidentiality, we can obtain for you a Confidential Marriage License. There must be proof that the couple is already living together (such as driver's licenses with the same address). If you wish to obtain a Confidential license, inquire here below.

Nov. 6, 2008"...UPDATE: Voters approve Proposition 8, banning same-sex marriages. With more than 95% of the vote counted, the measure leads 52.1% to 47.9%.
Same sex marriage licenses and/or ceremonies are suspended until further action from the court, a written directive from a State Agency is issued informing us otherwise, or, if the vote on proposition 8 changes when the election is certified by the Secretary of State
Completed marriage licenses (licenses in which the marriage ceremony has already been performed) that come in for registration will be accepted for registration. We will not determine whether the completed marriage license is for a same sex couple or not. Anyone who has a question as to the validity of a particular marriage that has been registered, can petition the court to determine the validity of that record.
Certified copies of all marriage licenses continue to be available to any couple desiring to purchase them.
Couples who have a marriage license, but have not had their ceremony yet, are advised that same sex marriage ceremonies can no longer be performed. They can consult an attorney for legal guidance.
There are no refunds for marriage licenses that have already been purchased.
For couples who have questions as to the validity of their same sex marriage that was performed between June 16 & November 4, the Attorney General has said he believes those marriages will remain valid, and he will defend that issue in court.
